Obstetrics – Gynecology

The department of Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB-GYN) is dedicated to providing excellence in the specialty care of women.  This includes:

  • general gynecology
  • gynecologic oncology
  • urogynecology
  • female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery
  • general obstetrics
  • prenatal care
  • prenatal diagnosis
  • delivery
  • fetal ultrasound
  • fetal cardiac disease detection and management
  • high-risk pregnancy management
  • other diagnoses and treatments affecting women

UPH obstetricians and gynecologists offer various choices in women’s health care that include: 

  • state-of-the-art, minimally invasive techniques
  • leading edge pelvic surgical techniques
  • obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound
  • nationally-recognized women's cancer diagnosis and management.   

Our physicians provide general and specialized gynecologic and obstetrical care for women of all ages.  These unique services are provided at many convenient locations across Southern Arizona. 

The doctors at UPH Hospital and Clinics at Kino Campus and the University of Arizona are nationally recognized as leaders in health care for women.  Their clinical expertise, state-of-the-art care and cutting edge research are available to women in Southern Arizona.  Faculty members continuously educate other physicians in medical and surgical advances  nationally and internationally  and are also active in the education of medical, nursing, pharmacy and public health students. 

Special Programs

Gynecology: Offers a full range of consultative and specialized services to meet the needs of adolescent, adult and geriatric women.

Gynecologic Oncology: Provides comprehensive cancer care, including uterine, cervical, vaginal and vulvar cancers as well as gestational trophoblastic disease. This program offers various options in the prevention and treatment of women's cancers.

Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery: Provides advanced gynecologic, pelvic, bladder, gynecologic cancer and supracervical hysterectomy surgeries, as well as consultation and testing leading to diagnosis. 

Uro-Gynecology Program: Provides full urodynamics studies to assess the causes of urinary incontinence.  This enables physicians to accurately diagnose conditions and recommend treatments that are as minimally invasive as possible and most likely to be effective. 

High Risk Obstetrics: Provides consultative care for prenatal diagnosis and for women with medical and obstetrical complications of pregnancy. 

Support Groups
 
Patients on AHCCCS can contact the Community Partnership of Southern Arizona (CPSA) to enroll in behavioral health services.  CPSA refers adults to three local agencies for counseling, inpatient treatment, and support groups.

  • Latina Institute for 6th grade girls in Mammoth and Sahuarita.  Focus is on higher education and health. 
  • Exercise and nutrition classes, available in English and Spanish.  The program provides one hour of exercise and a half hour of nutrition for seven weeks, and is in collaboration with the Arizona Cooperative Extension. 
  • Can We Talk?: A four-week series about being a parent to teenagers. 
    Osteoporosis presentations, available in English and Spanish. 
  • Arizona Saves: 30-minute presentation teaching simple tools for saving money. 
  • Steps to Health and Wealth: One-hour presentation incorporating topics on increasing wealth by improving health.
