Our primary care sports medicine specialists serve as team physicians to Tucson's university, college and high school teams. Now, they are also bringing their expertise to patients who are serious about their athletic hobbies.

Meet our Primary Care Sports Medicine Physicians
Holly McNulty, MD
Dr. McNulty is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. She oversees primary care at the Arizona Institute of Sports Medicine. Dr. McNulty is a certified IMPACT Specialist and is an expert in managing concussion in athletes through neurocognitive testing and treatment. She completed a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine and a residency in Family Medicine at The University of Arizona College of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from University of Nevada School of Medicine in Reno.
Stephen Paul, MD
Dr. Paul is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He has been the assistant team physician for The University of Arizona intercollegiate athletes, coordinator of the UA Sports Medicine Department and Director of the UA Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. In addition to teaching fellows and medical residents, he continues to provide care to university students and athletes with musculoskeletal injuries. His experience also includes taking care of professional athletes in his fellowship and as a consultant to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Dr. Paul completed his Sports Medicine Fellowship at the Center for Sports Medicine and Orthopedics, his residency in Family Medicine at The University of Arizona and his medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston.
Don Porter, MD
Dr. Porter is Board Certified in Family Medicine and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine. He has been the head team physician for The University of Arizona since 1989. In addition, he is a staff physician at Campus Health at the UA and teaches sports medicine to medical students, residents and fellows. He is a certified IMPACT Specialist and is an expert at managing concussion in athletes through neurocognitive testing and treatment.
Dr. Porter earned his medical degree at The University of Arizona and completed his residency in Family Medicine at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.
