Daniel Beskind, MD, MPH Assistant Professor in Clinical Emergency Medicine
Dr. Beskind is currently the Co-medical director UPHK along with being the EMS director. He attended the University of Vermont College of Medicine and completed his residency at the University of Arizona. He has completed fellowships in EMS and holds a Master's in Public Health. His current interests include EMS, Cardiovascular evaluation/resuscitation, Hypothermia and Disaster preparation and teaching Case Based Instruction to Medical students.

Kurt Denninghoff, MD Professor of Emergency Medicine and Optical Sciences Associate Department Head, Research
Dr. Denninghoff is a graduate of Vanderbilt University in Biomedical Engineering and completed an Emergency Medicine Residency at LSU Charity Hospital. He has served in the leadership of four research centers funded by the NIH, CDC, and AHRQ and has held 4 NIH grants. He is an expert in neurological research and clinical device development. His academic interests include resident research, faculty development, optical instrumentation and neurological emergencies.

Kristi J.H. Grall, MD, MHPE Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine Program Director and Educational Director, UPH Emergency Medicine
Dr. Grall began her training at the Medical College of WI and her residency at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, MI. She has completed a fellowship in Education and holds a Master of Health Professions Education degree from University of Illinois. Her current interests include Medical Education, Curriculum Development and Metholdology, Simulation. She serves as a AZMed Education Policy Committee member.

Harvey W. Meislin, MD Professor of Emergency Medicine Department Head and Chair
Dr. Meislin is the Director of the Arizona Emergency Medicine Research Center, a Center of Excellence at the UA College of Medicine as well as the chair for the department of Emergency Medicine in the School of Medicine. He has served many roles on the national level as president of both the American Board of Medical Specialties and the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He has also served on numerous editorial/review boards for publications, including the Annals of Emergency Medicine, the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, and the Journal of the American Medical Association.

Mazda Shirazi, MD, PhD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine and Medical Pharmacology.
Dr. Shirazi is the Medical Director and Vice-head of Emergency Medicine at UPH. He completed an MD, PH.D at University of Arizona and then went to the University of Texas for residency. Dr Shirazi completed his fellowship in Toxicology at the University of Arizona. Currently, he is both a EM and Medical Toxicology attending . Dr. Shirazi’s interests include envenomations and is the principal investigator in a phase III pit viper Antivenom trial. He consults with the Arizona Poision/Drug Information Center and is a member of the VIPER institute.

Ashish R. Panchal, MD, PhD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Panchal began his career as a researcher completing a Ph.D at Case Western Reserve University. Following this, he went to The Ohio State University College of Medicine for medical school and an Emergency Medicine Residency. His interests include medical education, Emergency ultrasonography and Cardiovascular research focusing on cardiopulmonary resuscitation, emergent Cardiology and cardiac imaging. He is a member of the Sarver Heart Center CPR Research Group.

Joshua Appel, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Appel is a graduate from University of Arizona Medical school and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the Albany Medical College. Dr. Appel has served in the armed forces and has a significant research interest in tactical medicine. His current activities include being a member of the Air Force Reserves and a flight surgeon.

Matthew Baird, MD
Instructor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Baird is a medical school graduate from Dartmouth University. He then went to Residency at the University of Virginia and has come to the University of Arizona as a Sports Medicine Fellow. His interest include sports, musculoskeletal injuries and his area of research interest includes heat related illness. He is currently working closely with University of Arizona Football and works regularly at the Arizona Institute for Sports Medicine.

Lawrence DeLuca, MD, EdM
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Deluca entered EM from the field of human health and fitness. He received his EdM in Human Movement from Boston University in 2000. He attended medical school at the University of Miami and completed his residency at the University of Arizona. He is currently completing a Research and Critical Care Fellowship. His current research interests are related to less invasive monitoring of critical ill patients.

Jamie Dermon, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine
Dr. Dermon completed her medical school at the Stanford and went to residency at the University of Arizona. She has completed a Masters degree in Anthropology at Stanford University and her current interests include International emergency medicine, medical anthropology, health care access in under-served communities. Her current research focus involves US-Mexico border health issues, health care access in Hispanic communities.

Isaac Farrell, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Farrell is a graduate from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Lincoln Medical Center NY, NY. Currently, he is completing a faculty development program in the Clinician Scientist Program with research focusing on emergent Cardiac Imaging, Emergent Cardiology, Health care cost effectiveness and medical education. His other interests include hiking, backpacking and old cars.

Joshua Gaither, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Gaither is a graduate from the University of Arizona and went to residency in Emergency Medicine at Yale University. He has completed a fellowship in Emergency Medical Services at Denver Health. Currently, his research focus includes EMS, pre-hospital medicine, and disaster preparedness. Outside of the ED, he enjoys biking, swimming, wilderness medicine.

Spencer Greene, MD, MS Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Greene completed his medical toxicology fellowship at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix. Prior to his fellowship, he served as an Assistant Professor at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine while serving on active duty with the U.S. Air Force. He is currently in the Clinician Scientist Program and his research focuses primarily on disaster preparedness and toxicological hazards. His clinical activities are divided between toxicology and emergency medicine.

Michael Hudson, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Hudson is the Deputy Medical Director for the Tucson Fire Department. Prior to this appointment, he has completed his medical school and residency training at the University of Arizona. Dr. Hudson’s academic interests include Educational models in simulation and is the Director of the Emergency Simulation. His current research includes models in simulation and pre-hospital remote video laryngoscopy.

Bernhard Knoblich, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Knoblich is a graduate from University of Vienna Medical school. He then completed residencies at Henry Ford Hospital in Family Medicine and Emergency Medicine and is double boarded in EM and FP. He then completed a Fellowship in Resuscitation Research at Henry Ford Hospital with Dr. Emanuel Rivers. Dr. Knoblich was involved in the landmark paper on sepsis treatment with Early Goal Directed Therapy. His research interests include the management and treatment of sepsis.

Alice Min, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Min attended the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and then came to Tucson for residency at the University of Arizona. Dr. Min’s interests include women's health and is serving as the Assistant Residency Director for Core Content at the University of Arizona.

David Stone, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Stone is a medical graduate from Southern Illinois University and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at the University of Arizona Emergency Medicine. His interests include Wilderness Medicine, alpine mountaineering, mountain biking, and sustainable living.

Lisa Stoneking, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine.
Dr. Stoneking graduated from the University of Akron, attended medical school at Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in Rootstown, Ohio. She completed her residency at Palmetto Health Richland Medical Center in Columbia, SC. She is currently in the Clinical Scientist Program at the University of Arizona focusing on faculty development. Her current research includes sepsis and compliance with clinical guidelines with an additional interest in ultrasound and medical education.

Anna Waterbrook, MD
Assistant Professor of Clinical Emergency Medicine
Dr. Waterbrook completed her fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at the University of Arizona . She works as an assistant team physician for the University of Arizona athletes and is also an assistant fellowship director for the UA Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship. She has extensive experience in the acute management of injured athletes both on and off the field.
